Letter of Recommendation for Reg Genter

 

We have known Reg for the past 18 years as he has served at the Chapel in Sandusky.  His wife, Cesca, and two children, Tony and Nicole, have been huge blessings to our church family as well.

 

Reg brings a teaching style that is never condemning, but always humble. It’s a humility that says “Look, I’ve been there too.”  He has the ability to keep one’s attention through illustrations, stories, humor, and personal testimony.  He is by far one of our favorite teachers.

 

I’ve been an elder for several years and have been blessed by Reg’s reports to the board.  I’ve been impressed over and over by his ability to diffuse tensions.  When there were strained relations between staff, Reg could be counted on to be a mediator.  His desire has always been to restore and to reconcile.  This past year it was Reg that suggested that the staff be invited to visit the elders at one of our board meetings.  For several months, we hosted the different staff teams.  Reg’s idea to do this produced tremendous fruit and built better relationships among the church staff and leaders.

 

We were also privileged to travel to New Orleans with Reg with a reconstruction team following Hurricane Katrina.  He has a very gifted knowledge of computers and electrical.  On this trip his electrical skills were needed as we were charged with rewiring a church.  It was so encouraging to watch Reg help lead that project while enlisting the help of several on the team.

 

Reg especially enjoys taking people to the next level in their spiritual walk. Reg and another staff member lead a class that helps Christ-followers to know what their gifts are.  This class is not only a blessing to the attendees, but to Reg as well.  He is so excited to see people spread their wings in God’s service.

 

Over all, if we were to describe Reg in short phrases, they would look like these:  humble servant, gracious giver, encouraging friend, incredible teacher, Christ-like example.

 

We can say without hesitation that we would not be where we are today with our walk with Christ if it were not for our dear friend Reg.
