Pastor at The Chapel

Our family has known Pastor Reg and his sweet family for close to four years, the same amount of time in which I have pastored with Reg at The Chapel. When we moved to the area, after pastoring twenty-three years elsewhere, our new residence was just five homes down the street from the Genters.  Living so close, along with our one-year-apart daughters attending the same school, we enjoyed the privilege of building a friendship.

Reg and Cesca have a balance in life.  They are sold out to church ministry and yet they exhibit a deep commitment to nurturing and developing their marriage.  Among other ways, this is reflected in the tremendous children they’ve raised who are now in college and cultivating their individual relationships with Christ.

As they say, “behind a great man is a great woman.”  Cesca brightens a room when she enters.  She knows how to love people and make them feel special.  Many, many women have been blessed by her investment in their lives.

Perhaps what I think of most when I think of Reg is his deep-seated commitment to church unity.  With grace and truth, he will deal with a conflict.  With love, he will reach for reconciliation.  Every church leader understands unity within the church body is periodically threatened. Reg has radar for those problems and knows what to do to bring the church through those times.

Reg serves people and countless could tell stories that way.  Many could share how he gave selflessly to the development and construction of our two campuses.  But our family thinks of a different story. The five of us were stranded in Traverse City, Michigan, with a blown engine.  Prompted by God’s Spirit, we believe, Reg rented a tow dolly in Norwalk, Ohio, and drove it to northwestern Michigan just to get us home, saving us hundreds of dollars.  We will never forget how he modeled servanthood.

Reg is super talented when it comes to electronic and computer-related things. He plays the guitar.  He is very smart.  But you would never learn of those things from him (unless you’re looking at his resume perhaps). In other words, I love and appreciate his humility.  He is a biblically-based and engaging communicator, and many have found his messages to be inspiring and motivating.

It is my pleasure to say a few words, and it would be my pleasure to say more if called upon as a reference.
